Members of the Biological Products Industry Alliance (BPIA) participated in the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) International Convention in Boston this week. BIO celebrated its silver anniversary by hosting more than 45,000 one-on-one meetings during the conference bringing together scientists and entrepreneurs from around the world to make deals, find new partners, and secure critical financing for new products. The conference included 19 educational tracks exploring topics such as the transformative potential of gene editing, the latest advances in digital health, and modern agricultural innovation.
During the conference, BIO’s Food and Agriculture Section examined how people’s lives, the environment, and society at large thrive through wide adoption of a variety of beneficial biological products and tools. The multi-day program included discussions of how cutting-edge new tools such as gene editing in plants and microbes for soil health are providing researchers, companies, and investors with new opportunities for solving diverse problems in global agriculture.
