Members of the Biological Products Industry Alliance (BPIA) attended Organic Week 2018 in Washington, DC. The week of activities included the Organic Confluences Summit which brought together farmers, scientists, extension agents, industry, and key policy influencers to address large-scale challenges facing the organic sector. Speakers discussed the state of education for organic and transitioning farmers and explored current innovations in information dissemination along with how to address barriers that constrain knowledge transfer with the organic sector.
As a member of the Organic Trade Association (OTA), BPIA participated in the OTA’s Policy Conference which explored the complex interactions that may cause resistance or create momentum for the future of the organic industry. During the conference, organic industry leaders discussed how the private sector is navigating Congressional gridlock to address economic and social issues while keeping up with consumer demand for organic products.
