Representatives from BPIA participated in the International Regulation & Standardization Forum on Biostimulants held in Linyi City, China. Benoit Planques from BPIA member Italpollina spoke regarding how to support the European regulation and development of the plant biostimulant market. Katja Schlink from BPIA member company Syngenta Crop Protection spoke about the global regulatory environment for biostimulants including the potential benefits that internationally harmonized regulations and standards can offer the industry.
Keith Jones, BPIA Executive Director, gave a presentation on the future of biostimulants in the United States highlighting BPIA’s successful effort to have a definition for biostimulants included in the recent draft of the next U.S. Farm Bill. Representatives from the International Organization for Standardization talked about the plan to potentially address biostimulants in ISO TC 134 Fertilizers, Soil Conditioners and Beneficial Substances.
