BPIA sponsored a biological products mini-symposium entitled Biopesticide Technology: Science and Challenges during the 9th International Integrated Pest Management Symposium in Baltimore, Maryland earlier this week.
Topics at the mini-symposium included strategic biological control combinations, using Bacillus products for disease control, working with post-emergent biological herbicides, developing microbial bioinsecticides, fighting fire blight with phage, and using biopesticides for vegetable disease management. Speakers included representatives from Bayer Crop Science, Brigham Young University, Certis USA, the Ohio State University, the University of California, and the United States Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service.
In addition to the biological products mini-symposium, BPIA sponsored a booth in the IPM exhibit hall and participated in the student educational luncheon entitled, IPM Experts Sharing Knowledge with Tomorrow’s IPM Leaders. Through the booth and luncheon, BPIA was able to speak with dozens of students about biological products.
