As part of the PRIA Coalition, BPIA submitted a memorandum to Joel Brubaker, President-Elect Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Transition Team. The memorandum outlines recommendations to ensure the Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) within the EPA is adequately resourced and equipped to carry out its critical functions.
The memorandum underscores the importance of the Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA) in supporting the timely and predictable registration of pesticides including biopesticides while protecting human health and the environment. It highlights challenges facing OPP, such as staffing shortages, outdated technology, and missed regulatory deadlines, and offers actionable recommendations to improve efficiency and transparency.
The memorandum is intended to help shape the incoming administration’s priorities, emphasizing the importance of OPP’s role in enabling innovation and maintaining the availability of essential pest control solutions for industries and communities across the United States.
