During these very difficult times, BPIA member companies from coast to coast are helping others in need by supporting local community organizations with donations of disinfectants, personal protective equipment (PPE) like masks, gloves and suits, and other needed supplies. For example, Boston-based BPIA member Indigo Ag donated equipment and supplies for local medical services. In Davis, California, BPIA member Marrone Bio Innovations donated masks to a local hospital. In addition, BPIA member BASF’s factories in Michigan and New Jersey have converted areas of operations for hand sanitizer production. The finished sanitizing products were donated to healthcare sites in the United States, Mexico and Canada. To date, the sites have produced over 12,000 gallons of hand sanitizer. BPIA member, Corteva Agriscience, is helping process COVID-19 samples. A health care provider in Iowa collects the samples and delivers them to Corteva where a team of trained employees processes and assesses the samples using the company’s sophisticated genetic screening capabilities. BPIA member, Valent Group Companies (VGC), announced a company-wide virtual food drive with Farmlink, a not-for-profit grassroots movement that connects farms with food banks to feed thousands in need while supporting essential jobs. The food drive kicked off in June with a significant donation from VGC, and the company will match each employee donation.
