The BPIA Government Affairs Committee (GAC) sent a letter to appropriators in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives thanking them for addressing the significant public health threat posed by the Zika virus by recently passing fiscal 2017 continuing resolution (HR 5325). The law’s $1.1 billion in funding to address the Zika virus is needed to ensure that local public health agencies and mosquito control districts have the resources to conduct education, surveillance and control of the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, which also carry Chikungunya, Dengue Fever, and Yellow Fever.
